"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." (Nelson Mandela)
Once again, I am riding my bike 110 miles to Sacramento with hundreds of other parents, teachers, students, and other members of our community to raise money and public awareness for local public schools. This year I will ride on April 26th, my birthday week. Ride for a Reason 2025 starts at Oakland Tech, where my Oakland son and daughter attended high school, and ends at the State Capital in Sacramento.
Ride for a Reason is personal. It raises awareness for underfunded California public schools and, as importantly, raises essential funds for critical programs at 12 public schools in Oakland and Alameda. More than half of the kids at these schools qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My company, HFG Advisors, is a corporate sponsor and I have done this annual ride 14 times. My wife Cindy is volunteering for the seventh time to drive a SAG wagon to provide support to the riders.
All I want for my birthday is for you to support my goal of raising $1,000 for Oakland and Alameda public schools. The funds raised support basic programs such as school libraries, art, music, and sports, enrichment activities such as field trips and after-school programs, and even ordinary school supplies needed by teachers.
Please donate -- even if it is $15 or 20 dollars. Your donation is fully tax-deductible through Claremont PTA tax ID 94-6171801. The money you donate makes a significant difference by keeping kids engaged and excited about going to school.
Thanks so much for giving Oakland and Alameda kids a boost!
