Dear Family & Friends:
We’re writing to enlist your support in this year’s Ride for a Reason school fundraiser. We’re both riding again to Sacramento—Cliff is doing the 100-mile (actually 111 mile) route, and Karen is doing the 45-mile ride. Cliff also has been very active again on the volunteer organizing committee for the ride. This is our 16th year of riding! Over this time, Ride for a Reason has raised over $1.8 million for local public schools.
As before, all of the money raised goes directly to support public schools in Oakland & Alameda, all of which serve large numbers of underserved, low-income kids. The needs of our schools remain great. Oakland schools are facing a budget shortfall (again), and we almost certainly will lose federal funding in the days ahead. The money we raise helps support basic services such as school libraries, art, music, sports, and other enrichment and after school programs— and even ordinary school supplies needed by teachers. And uniquely, it comes with no strings attached!
Please donate what you can.
Cliff & Karen
