Thanks for thinking about contributing through the Finnegan-Willging Gang to support Ride 4A Reason 2024. We are, from left to right, Liam, Miles, Tom (Ampa), and Dennis (DaDa). As usual, this fundraiser benefits Oakland and Alameda public schools. Let's chip in and make our schools even better!
Our team spans three generations of riders, very likely including the youngest and oldest riders. For the last two years, Liam Finnegan. now 14 years old and an 8th grader at Edna Brewer Middle School, rode 68 miles from Suisun City to the finish. His older brother Miles, 18 years old and a senior at Oakland Tech High School completed the 68-mile ride last year. Grandpa Tom Willging, now 83 years old and nicknamed "Ampa" by Miles many years ago, followed Liam and Miles to the finish at the Capitol grounds after leading weekly training rides throughout the winter and early spring. In 2023, Dennis Finnegan, the boys' father, added the third generation to our gang and rode the 68 miles to Sacramento.
This year all four of us are again training for the April 24 event. We're struggling with the weather and the busy schedules of two teenagers and their father.
So, please make our day meaningful by contributing whatever you want. Oakland schools are treating our boys well and we want to support helping them continue to do so. We are hoping to raise at least $3,000 toward the ride's total goal of $180,000.
